"Horse Meat" Rou Gui, Spring 2014, Tea Master Zhou, Horse Head Cliff, Wuyi Mountain Inner Circle
Aroma/Color/Taste:
This special 2014 vintage has a very sweet and smooth taste. A little sweeter and slightly lighter than the 2018, not as smoky. This is a beautiful tea. Very smooth, still rich and flavorful with a sweet light chocolate and flowery fragrance. Cinnamon in color. You will cherish the beautiful taste and feeling from this tea.
Rou Gui literally means cassia, relating to cinnamon. In general, Rou Gui’s have a fruity aroma and flavor that mixes well with the roast. Rou Guis are drier and on the woodsier side of oolongs.
Location: This Rou Gui comes from the inner circle upper mountain area of Wuyi Mountain on the Horse Head Cliff or also referred to as Horse Head Rock. Wuyi Mountain is in the northwest province of Fujian in southeast China.
Made by: It was made by Tea Master Zhou from trees about 35+ years old.
Learn how to make the tea.
Brews & Steeping: Bring the water to a rolling boil. Wait for the bubbling water to settle. Pour off the first infusion to open the leaves. For first drink, infuse for 3 seconds, pour and enjoy. This tea can make 10-15 infusions. Increase steep time only slightly longer as you reach the final infusions. You'll know by the color and taste of the tea, when it has been exhausted. We recommend using a small thick clay teapot or gaiwan and spring or filtered water. Fill about 1/3 of your teapot or gaiwan with the leaves.
